Orchard Autumn 2

In English we are looking at historical fiction. Our focus will be on Charles Dickens and his book ‘Oliver Twist’ this links with out Victorian history theme. We will learning how to write instructions. In maths we will be learning about place value, statistics, time, shape and measures. There is a focus on word problems as well as logic problems.

In Science, we will be studying the topic ‘Light’, learning how light travels, making periscopes and shadow puppets.  In history we are focusing on the Victorians, looking at inventions and great engineers. We will be looking at the life and times of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

In our morning sessions, we will be learning about the school’s values, PSHE which will focus on Keeping Safe and Zones of Regulation work once a week to help us with our social and emotional education and understanding.

In PE we are focusing on swimming and developing our fitness through our daily workouts.

We are continuing to work with Rick from More Music who is teaching Orchard Class how to play the ukulele. He will be in school every Thursday throughout he year. We will be performing in the Christmas production
